This could look like:

Class / Discussion on subjects such as:

  • A Healthy Approach to a Life in Music:

    - Geared towards all musicians, student, amateur and professional, and focuses on approaching our instruments as extensions of our body, discovering a healthy and efficient technique, as well as focusing on the physical and mental health aspects of being a musician, and how music can play a role in our lives beyond school.

  • The Art of Listening:

    - The importance of using our ears to become a better musician, and to deepen understanding and meaning in our own lives.

  • The Golden Sound:
    - How to uncover our natural and most “golden” sound.

    • Geared towards Trumpeters, but can work for all brass instruments.

  • Find your Truest Voice

    - Geared towards singers, focusing on finding a healthy, free, and authentic sound.

    - Allowing that voice to express ourselves as a musician.

    - Choosing music to sing, finding collaborators, creating art!

  • Becoming a Professional Musician

    - Focuses on the professional world of music, what it takes to become one, and my perspective after being a full time professional musician for 10 years.

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Music

    - In recent years, our eyes and ears have been opened to something that should have happened many many years before. But what does this mean in our classical music world, a world filled with traditions and long standing practices, and repertoire. I don’t pretend to have the answers, but I can share what I have done and perhaps open our eyes to some music that I have added into my repertoire, that has been neglected and overlooked in the past. As well as share my thoughts on collaborating, commissioning and creating new music and art with colleagues in our field.

additional subjects could be:

  • Recording an Album - HOW TO

I have recently recorded an album, entirely on my own, as well as being a part of an ensemble that recorded two albums, and being a hired musician for dozens of others, I have the experience to help shed light on this process.

  • Grants - HOW TO

Grants are a huge part of a musician and artists life. With my experience applying for and successfully receiving grants, I can shed some light on this daunting, but very helpful process.

  • Learning New Music

The music I am performing often changes on a weekly basis, including performing and recording dozens of brand new, never before played/sung pieces. With music to learn as a singer, trumpeter and pianist, I can share the tips and tricks I’ve learned, to effectively learn music in an efficient and time-conscious way.

Memorizing - Having memorized dozens (perhaps hundreds) of pieces of music, this daunting process doesn’t have to be so.

  • Different Instruments - I’d love to share a bit about other / lessor known instruments that I have developed skills on, such as:

    - Armenian Duduk

    - Cornetto

    - How to approach learning a new instrument
